The Erbice family's "Azienda Agricola" (winery/farm) lies in the vallery of Mezzane di Sotto not far from Verona. Headed now by the brothers Silvio and Alberto Erbice, the family's vineyards habe been the source of a thriving, quality-concious business for 3 generations. Consistent with tradition, the brothers still reside in the family's eighteenth century villa directly overseeing a 30 acre vineyard. The brothers have developed an effective team approach that has established their wines as teh region's leader in diversity and quality. With Silvio tending to the vineyards, and Alberto managing production and vinification, the excellent values of the Erbice linea are gradually gaining recognition. Not surprisingly, many of the DOC wines that have made the region famous are offered under the Villa Erbice label. These include Soave, Valpolicella, Recioto di Soave, Recioto della Valpolicella and Recioto Amarone. The family also offers "estate bottled" wines, packaged (as the term implies) on Erbice's production farmland. Recently, the brothers introduced theree new single vineyard wines. Their Soave Cru Panvinio, Valpolicella Cru Montetombole and extraordinary Chardonnay seen especially aimed to the real lovers and should hold their own on a fine wine list.
